He Has His Eyes on You

Writer: Emani TrammellEmani Trammell

Being seen is one of the most validating and comforting feelings. There’s a saying: to be known is to be loved—and that is a fact. To be seen for all that you are, to be noticed for even the things left unsaid, is a beautiful thing.

But life has seasons. And in some of them, we wrestle with feeling unseen by our Heavenly Father. We pray and feel unheard. We give our best, yet our efforts seem unnoticed. We sit in His presence, longing for a word, but all we hear is silence, our human thoughts drowning out the truth of His nearness.

I recently had the privilege of teaching on the name El RoiThe God Who Sees Me. This name was given to God by Hagar in Genesis 16:13. Hagar, pregnant and mistreated, ran to the wilderness in desperation. She felt abandoned, invisible, and hopeless. But God, being who He is, met her there.

I encourage you to read all of Genesis 16, but let’s focus on verse 13:

“She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me.’”

He saw her.

He saw her exactly where she was. She didn’t have to be perfect. She didn’t have to be whole. She simply had to show up as herself—raw, broken, and overwhelmed. And God met her right there.

He saw her pain. He understood her suffering. He spoke life into her. And He sees you, too.

God Sees Your Battles and Your Faithfulness

Feeling invisible to God is something I’ve been wrestling with lately. But the same God who saw Hagar sees you and me.

Psalm 56:8 tells us that He collects every tear—not one goes unnoticed. Psalm 18:6 reminds us that our cries reach His ears.

Even in your wilderness, you are not forgotten. Every prayer, every act of faithfulness, every quiet moment of obedience matters to Him. The world may not acknowledge your efforts, but God does. And He is faithful to honor those who seek Him.

God Sees Your Future—Even When You Can’t

We don’t know what tomorrow holds, let alone the next year, five years, or beyond. But while our vision is limited, our Guide knows every step.

Psalm 16:8 reminds us:

“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

Keep holding His hand. Take it one day at a time. One day, you’ll look up and see how the winding journey has come together perfectly in His hands.

Looking for God in the Everyday

I’ve made it a point to find God in my daily life—and He’s been there. Every single day. Not always with the answers I’m waiting for, but always with His presence. I’ve felt Him in the distinct joy of a child’s laughter, in the gentle breeze that wraps around me, in the overwhelming emotion I experience watching the sunset, and most definitely in the immense satisfaction of a great meal LOL.

I’ve realized that the enemy wants me to focus on what feels absent, but when I choose to see God, I find Him in all the places He has always been—places I once overlooked. And that right there, that gives me confidence. If He is present in the small, seemingly mundane moments, then I have full faith that He is working out the mountains too.

And I have that faith for you as well.

So, what's my challenge for you this month?

Write down Genesis 16:13:

She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

Make it your screensaver. Post it on your mirror. Stick it to your car dashboard, your laptop—wherever you’ll see it often.

Let it be a reminder that your Father has His eyes set on you.

He sees you.

He knows you.

He loves you.

And when the enemy tries to make you doubt that—cling to this truth.

It will be well,

E
